Privacy Policy
Pastor Z is built to be private by default. This page says, in plain language, exactly what we collect, where it goes, and what we will never do with it.
What we collect
Three things. Your account, if you create one — your name (optional) and email address, through Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email and password. Your questions and study activity — what you ask and look up, so we can answer it. Support messages — what you send us, along with basic device details (app version, iOS version, device model) so we can help. You can use most of the app without an account.
How your questions are answered
When you ask a question, it travels over an encrypted connection to our servers, which enrich it with Bible text and public-domain commentary and pass it to the AI model you've chosen in Settings — currently Google's Gemini or xAI's Grok — to write the answer. Your question text is also used to search our own index of classic Christian texts so answers can cite real sources. We do not use your questions to train AI models, and our provider agreements do not permit them to either.
Where your data lives
Your conversation history is stored on your device, not on our servers. Our servers keep only a small account profile (your sign-in identity, email, and name) and standard service logs. Support emails live in our support mailbox.
Services we rely on
Like most apps, Pastor Z is built on a few well-known providers, each receiving only what its job requires: Firebase Authentication (Google) for sign-in; Amazon Web Services for our servers, email delivery, and content caching; Google and xAI for AI answers; and OpenAI and Pinecone for searching our library of classic texts. None of them may use your data for their own purposes.
What we never do
We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. We don't share your questions with anyone beyond the services above that are needed to answer them. We don't train models on your conversations.
Deleting your data
Delete any conversation in the app — it's removed from your device immediately. Delete your entire account in Settings → Account — this removes your profile and sign-in record from our systems right away. For anything else, email us and we'll take care of it.
Children
Pastor Z is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Meaningful changes will be called out in the app.
